Diet and Getting Pregnant

By Negut Andreea last modified 08/12/2005
If you want to get pregnant you have to be as healthy as you can get because you need to start your pregnancy on the right foot. Any mother wants her baby to grow healthy and strong, having a healthy diet which contains all the vitamins and nutrients even before conceiving not only helps your baby grow healthy but also helps conceiving.

Folic acid helps the baby grow normally and administrated once a month reduces the changes to have neutral tube defects with 70%.

Doctors also recommend 400 milligrams of vitamins a day and food that contains folic acid like: green vegetables, bread, avocado, peanuts and orange juice.

You should start looking for food that is rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins and avoid fats or sugar, also try to eat natural food and milk that has no hormones. There are some aliments you should avoid such as: sushi, eggs, chicken, red meat, Brie cheese, etc.

Water is very important during pregnancy because the woman tends to get dehydrated so drink at least 8 grasses of water a day. Also avoid diet soda isn’t good for your health and for the future baby because it contains artificial sweeteners.

Caffeine should be avoided too because it’s a diuretic and your body needs to be very hydrated, also studies show that women which drink more than 300 milliliters of coffee during their pregnancy are more exposed to spontaneous abortion.
