Dealing with Morning Sickness

By Saphy last modified 08/12/2005
During pregnancy morning sickness is one of the most horrifying symptoms but it is also a sign that the pregnancy is healthy so as much as we hate it, we need it. Between 50 and 70 percent of women experience morning sickness during their pregnancy, caused by the hormonal changes from your body, however women who don’t get enough sleep or have a stressed life have a higher chance of experiencing worse morning sickness.

There are some things that will stop morning sickness or at least ease it:

When you feel sick, try to relax by breathing through your mouth slowly and counting to 10. Imagine that you are on a mountain breathing fresh air, and don’t forget to open the window. This will distract your mind from sickness as long as you manage to do it.

My grandmother taught my mother when she was pregnant to eat a few crackers before leaving her bed and it seemed to work. What a nice way to convince your husband to serve your breakfast in bed.

Don’t eat too much before going to bed at night. Doctors say that if you eat something light and fat free before going to bed at night there is a lower chance of having morning sickness. Also try to drink a natural juice or eat a fruit when you get up.

Keep your bedroom cool. Don’t expose yourself to high temperatures because it seems that they produce nausea and can cause you worse morning sickness.
